All this week I have been working on some new patterns for my Redbubble & Casetify shops.

I always start by doodling with my watercolours, creating lots of different variations of the same thing, and then choose the best to then create a pattern.

#TBT - Cornwall Holiday 2013 - Boscastle

After visiting Tintagel in 2013, we decided to go to Boscastle, a small village and fishing port, as my mum wanted to visit after seeing it on the news in 2004, when a flash flood caused extreme damage to the whole village. It pretty much destroyed everything and the water level was at the roofs of the houses.

We walked around the whole of the village and used on of the many paths to the top of a cliff. The view from the top was just breathtaking and worth the journey up there.

#TBT - Cornwall Holiday 2013 - Lanhydrock Garden

Here are some pictures I took when walking around the beautiful gardens at Lanhydrock back in 2013. The one thing I love about the National Trust gardens is that they are always full of some of the most beautiful flowers and wildlife. A great place to take lots of photos!

This little robin was hopping around some bushes as I was walking past and thankfully stayed still long enough for me to swap lenses and snap a picture.

#TBT - Cornwall Holiday 2013 - Lanhydrock

Some photos from when I visited a National Trust estate called Lanhydrock back in 2013.

For those of you who don't know what the National Trust is, they are an organisation which preserves and protects historic houses, gardens, coastline, forests, woods, beaches, farmland, islands, archaeological remains, nature reserves, villages, and pubs in the UK, and opens them up for the public to view. If you take a look at their website, you will be able to find out more about them.

Lanhydrock is a huge country house and estate with a church and a number of gardens near Bodmin. I have been there once before but it was nice to refresh my memory.

Logo Design I did for RIYAK IMAN, a fashion design student currently creating her clothing line.

Thumbelina Re-Designed

You might be thinking, haven't you already done this? And yes I have, but I wasn't really happy with how the final book turned out and I really wanted the opportunity to improve it, to do it the way I originally wanted to but didn't have time for. So here is version 2 of my design for the children story Thumbelina by Hans Christian Andersen.

I was so much happier with how this little book turned out to be, it measures to the size of 50mm (W) x 68mm (H). I designed it to be really small, the height of my thumb, as the story is about a tiny girl the size of a thumb. You see what I did there? Its absolutely adorable at this size and you are still able to hold and read it. I want to give a big thank you to Mills Bookbinders in Birmingham, who bound this fiddly little book and in such short time due to my project deadline. Also their staff were so friendly and helpful! So thank you again!

End of the Second Year of University

Finally handed in my last project for my second year a couple weeks ago and now it's time to focus on creating new work & relaxing! I have a couple things from the past few months still left to post, including my last project and a trip to London.

I took these photos when I went round the local park with my mum, we spent the day feeding squirrels and soaking in the sunshine. Blossom trees are my favourites, so I was glad their was a few there for me to take some photos of. Squirrel pictures are coming up next post, they were so cute! I was really tempted to take one home.

Down the Rabbit Hole for the 150th Anniversary

For a university project, we got to chose a comeptiton brief. I decided to chose the Pan Macmillan YCN Student Award Brief, which was to create a new cover and up to two interior illustrations for the classic story, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. 

I decided to do this brief as I love book design and illustration, and I really wanted to have a go at bringing this classic tale some new life.

This was the cover design I ended up with & I was really happy with how it turned out.

New York, New York!

In February I went to New York on a trip with my university and it was absolutely amazing, I wish we could of stayed longer! Here are some of my favourite photos from the trip which I hope you enjoy, sorry I took so long to upload them but I have been a little busy with a project which I will upload soon, so keep checking back for that. 

I'm hoping to do some illustrations of this trip and maybe sell some prints if anyone is interested, please comment if you are! I'm a student so the money would be a big help - aha!

Lauren Victoria Reeves Re-Design

Whilst doing my latest university project, I decided to design myself a new look. Of course, I started with some watercolour illustrations of my favourite things - flowers - and apply them to a new website design and business cards. I really loved how these designs turned out and hopefully when I learn some coding skills, I may be able to make the website! Fingers crossed.
